Piano Steinway S restoration continues.

So the work continues on our Steinway S Piano restoration today on the keys. Years of home coal fire smoke dirt engraved on the wood to be removed and the of tarnished brass space adjusters to receive some tender love and care.

Still lots of work to be done on the keys with bushings and new key covers to be fitted after the dirty steam job of removing what’s left of the old ivory.

After now 2 months of working on the S in our Piano retail workshop we have the casework stained and sealed and the iron frame back in with new finished soundboard and the stringing completed. We have also now made a start on the action removing the old hammer shanks and heads to be completely replaced.
