All piano restorations have frame removed, soundboard stripped, any splits repaired, soundboard sanded with course, medium, fine sandpaper and refinished.

The frame is rubbed down and resprayed both with paint and clear laquer for deep shine, and all frame screws/bolts are plated. Along with restring, new hammers, damper felts, dampers tops polished, ......

Piano repolishing can be an extremely complex art, or a relatively simple one. It is all down to experience. The traditional french polishing still takes some beating. There is a well known piano house that has regularly refinished with a quick colour wash, followed by a spray, and then burnished; and they charge more than most others Spraying of various materials is not that easy, particularly on vertical surfaces.  As for polyester, will it last? It is a very hard material when cured, but it is very much an inert .......
