Twice yearly tuning is the order of the day for correct maintenance of a piano, coupled with even temperatures and humidity.

Iron frames are removed from the instrument for cleaning down and refinishing in the original gold sheen. Soundboard has been repaired and carefully re-varnished. Frame screws and bolt heads have been nickel plated. All strings (treble and bass) have been renewed, as well as the tuning pins.

The damper action has been dismantled. Old felts removed and the tops polished.

A new set of felts have been fitted and the pedal lyre moving parts have been re-bushed and leather pads replaced. Some web-sites will not accept the description “as new”. This standard of work has been described as “better than new” by a factory stringer, due to the limited time that workers could spend on a specific task.
